Genesis 21:1 · World English Bible
Yahweh visited Sarah as he had said, and Yahweh did to Sarah as he had spoken.
What love promises a mind is never withdrawn, and the moment that mind is ready to receive, the word is kept exactly. A part that had given itself up as barren and past hope is met by a truth that waited patiently the whole time.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
What love promises a mind is never withdrawn, and the moment that mind is ready to receive, the word is kept exactly. A part that had given itself up as barren and past hope is met by a truth that waited patiently the whole time. Nothing was lost in the delay; the delay was only the mind's slowness to accept what was already granted.
The visiting is no outside power arriving. It is the mind at last turning to the teacher it had refused, and finding everything it despaired of quietly given.
Sarah: the part of the mind that judged itself empty and beyond healing, now opened to the good it had denied was possible.

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
Isaac arrives only after the waiting has done its work. The promise was made long before, and the years of barrenness were not an accident of the story but its engine. A person has no grasp of a thing's worth until he has been without it. Sarah laughed at the impossibility. Now she holds it in her arms. What comes late and against every odd is prized in a way the cheap thing never can be.
Deprivation is the teacher here. The son withheld and finally given is loved with the whole weight of the years that ached for him. A gift handed over too easily is barely seen. Wait long enough for the right thing, and its worth floods in the moment it appears.
Christian Psychology lens
Where have I called something barren that was only taking longer than I wanted?
The Tao does not act, yet nothing is left undone. What arrives in its own time was never late, only waiting for the moment it could be received.
The moon is always in the sky, but you see it only when the clouds thin. Nothing new was made; something old was finally uncovered.
What you have been searching for has been searching for you the whole while. The seeker's long ache was not absence but the slow softening that let the gift land.
