There is a place the frightened mind wants to run, a deeper bondage that promises safety and delivers only chains. To be told not to go down into that country is the gentle correction of love, asking the mind to stay where it is guided rather than flee to the familiar prison of fear.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
There is a place the frightened mind wants to run, a deeper bondage that promises safety and delivers only chains. To be told not to go down into that country is the gentle correction of love, asking the mind to stay where it is guided rather than flee to the familiar prison of fear. The instruction is not restriction but rescue, a turning of the mind from the teacher of separation to the teacher of peace.
To dwell where love directs is simply to trust that the present ground is enough. The mind does not need to escape into old slavery to be provided for. It is asked only to remain and be shown, and in staying it learns that the safety it sought elsewhere was here the whole time.
Egypt: the old bondage of fear the mind returns to for false safety, the deeper captivity dressed as refuge Land: the present ground where the mind is guided to remain, the here-and-now in which love can teach it
Christian Psychology lens
What am I calling safety that is really just somewhere I have been before?
The practice is to stay on your seat. Every impulse to be somewhere else is the thing itself, asking to be met rather than obeyed.
People hunt for retreats in the country, by the sea, in the hills, when they could withdraw into themselves at any hour. Nowhere is quieter than your own mind, if you will stay in it.
You can know the world without going out the door. Running further only tires the legs and teaches less.
