Genesis 27:22 · World English Bible
Jacob went near to Isaac his father. He felt him, and said, “The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.”
A mind divided against itself gives off two signals at once, a voice that is true and hands that are borrowed, and the confusion of the one who must judge it is simply the split laid bare. When the self approaches wearing a disguise, it asks to be known and to remain hidden in the same movement, and no clear recognition is possible.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
A mind divided against itself gives off two signals at once, a voice that is true and hands that are borrowed, and the confusion of the one who must judge it is simply the split laid bare. When the self approaches wearing a disguise, it asks to be known and to remain hidden in the same movement, and no clear recognition is possible.
This is the cost of separation, that the self can no longer be seen whole. The undoing is not a better disguise but the willingness to be one thing, so that voice and touch tell the same story and there is nothing left to sort.
Father: the aspect of mind that discerns and confers worth, here left groping because the self it reaches for has divided itself in two. Voice: the true self that speaks from what the mind actually is. Hands: the false covering the mind puts on to pass as its rival, the borrowed identity worn over its own.
Christian Psychology lens
Where is my voice saying one thing today while my hands say something else?
The sage does not display himself, and so is seen clearly. What is forever arranging its own appearance is the one nobody can make out.
When you eat, just eat. When you walk, just walk. The suffering starts where the words and the hands are telling two different stories.
Stop wearing a thousand faces in a thousand rooms and be one thing all the way through. Only then can anyone, including you, actually meet you.
