Genesis 33:2 · World English Bible
He put the servants and their children in front, Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph at the rear.
The ordering from front to back is the ranking of a person's inner states from the outermost and least valued to the innermost and most protected. The handmaids and their offspring thoughts stand foremost, the most exposed; Leah, the weary and mistaken spirit, comes next; and Rachel with Joseph is set hindmost, guarded deepest of all.

ESOTERIC
The ordering from front to back is the ranking of a person's inner states from the outermost and least valued to the innermost and most protected. The handmaids and their offspring thoughts stand foremost, the most exposed; Leah, the weary and mistaken spirit, comes next; and Rachel with Joseph is set hindmost, guarded deepest of all. Rachel is the child of promise, the divine inner wife, and Joseph is the Christ within, the awakened self a person shields behind everything else.
What is placed last is what is treasured most. The innermost states, the promise and the anointed self, are kept furthest from harm while the carnal thoughts are put first to meet whatever comes.
Leah: the weary spirit, the mistaken and deceived state set in the middle Rachel: the divine inner wife, the child of promise held deepest within Joseph: the Christ within, the awakened self guarded behind all other states Children: the offspring thoughts of the carnal mind and its emotions
Esoteric lens
What are you keeping hindmost, and does it know you're protecting it?
The wise keep their treasure hidden and look plain on the outside. What is most valuable is not displayed at the gate.
Blessing rests only on what is hidden from the eye. What is counted and displayed stops increasing.
The heart is the sanctuary and the tongue is the courtyard. Let the courtyard do the greeting; the sanctuary is for the One who is invited in.
