Genesis 42:6 · World English Bible

Genesis 42:6 Meaning Joseph Was the Governor Over the Land

Joseph was the governor over the land. It was he who sold to all the people of the land. Joseph’s brothers came, and bowed themselves down to him with their faces to the earth.

What does Genesis 42:6 mean?

The part of the mind that was once cast out returns as the one who governs and supplies. When a mind chooses Love, the very thoughts that betrayed it come, in time, to bow before the truth they could not destroy, not in defeat but because they need what only the healed mind can give.

The part of the mind that was once cast out returns as the one who governs and supplies. When a mind chooses Love, the very thoughts that betrayed it come, in time, to bow before the truth they could not destroy, not in defeat but because they need what only the healed mind can give. What was buried does not stay buried; it rises to feed even those who wished it gone.

So the old grievances arrive hungry at the door of the thought they wronged. They lower themselves to the ground, and this bowing is the beginning of their healing, for a mind that comes seeking bread from what it once attacked is ready to be forgiven and restored.

Joseph the governor: the once-rejected teacher within, now the mind's source of supply and order Joseph's brethren: the mind's own thoughts that once attacked the truth and now come needing it The earth they bow to: the low place of surrender where the grievance begins to be healed

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

Joseph ruling over the land and feeding all who come to him is the Christ within, the truth risen inside the mind's own place of bondage, now governing the very faculties that once cast it out. Egypt is the lower mind, the flesh, and the land governed is that body-realm brought under the higher power. The brethren bowing with their faces to the earth are our own nature and faculties, the parts of us that opposed the rising spirit, coming back in need and repenting before the Christ they did not recognize as their own.

The inner brother we abandoned turns out to be the one holding the bread of life, and when the lower faculties finally bow, they are fed by the very presence within they refused to know.

  1. Think of a piece of advice you brushed off because of who gave it, and sit with it honestly for a few minutes today. Ask whether you rejected the idea or the person.
  2. Go back to someone you were dismissive of and ask them a real question about the thing they know. Let them be the expert in the conversation.
  3. When you are losing an argument in a group chat or a work thread, try saying "you may be right about that part" and mean it. See how much lighter the next message feels.

Who have I pushed to the edge of my life who might be holding something I need?

What is soft and low ends up holding what is hard and high. Water takes the bottom place and in the end everything comes down to it to drink.

The teacher you dismissed may be the one holding what you need. Pride keeps the cup upside down, and nothing can be poured into it until it turns over.
