Genesis 46:3 Meaning He Said

He said, “I am God, the God of your father. Don’t be afraid to go down into Egypt, for there I will make of you a great nation.

What does Genesis 46:3 mean?

Fear looks at the descent ahead and sees only loss, but the Voice for love reframes the very place the mind dreads as the ground where it will be increased. A mind convinced that stepping into the world of appearances means diminishment is told the opposite, that nothing it faces there can shrink it.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Fear looks at the descent ahead and sees only loss, but the Voice for love reframes the very place the mind dreads as the ground where it will be increased. A mind convinced that stepping into the world of appearances means diminishment is told the opposite, that nothing it faces there can shrink it.

The instruction is the plain one love always gives, not to be afraid, because the constant Source goes wherever the mind goes and cannot be left behind by any journey into the dark. Where the mind expected to lose everything, it is promised to grow.

God: the Voice for love and the unchanging Source, present as father to father, that goes with the mind into its fear Egypt: the world of appearances the mind dreads to enter, reframed as the very place where it will be increased

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

An old man stood at the edge of a journey his whole being wanted to refuse. Going down felt like loss. Yet the voice that met him named the fear and set it aside, and pointed past it to what the descent would grow.

The mind treats every downward step as a threat, bracing against the very ground where life intends to enlarge. Fear not to go down carries a promise folded inside it. What looks like sinking is the soil, and a nation is coming out of exactly the place he dreaded. The greatness waits there, not on the road back.

Live Genesis 46:3 today

  1. When your mind starts running the worst version of tomorrow, the hard conversation, the appointment, the move, say to yourself that you are not walking in there by yourself. Then do the next small thing, pack the bag, set the alarm, and let the dread go flat.
  2. Someone close to you is scared of a change they cannot avoid. Do not talk them out of the fear or hand them advice. Just tell them you will be around before, during and after, and mean it.
  3. In the meeting or the room where you feel like you are about to lose ground, sit down anyway and breathe once before you speak. Treat the place you expected to shrink in as the place you might actually grow.

What am I treating as a loss that might turn out to be where I grow?

Tao Te Ching

What looks like descent is often the way forward. Water goes to the lowest place and loses nothing by it, because its nature travels with it wherever it flows.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

The obstacle in front of you is the material your life is made from, not an interruption of it. Nothing that happens to you can make you smaller unless you agree to it.

Bhagavad Gita

Arjuna is told to go into the field he dreads rather than away from it, and he is told he will not go alone. The presence that speaks to him is already in the place he is afraid to enter.
