CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

A mind at the close of its journey looks back and sees it was never once abandoned. The same presence that guided those before it has sustained it every day without a single lapse, and this recognition is itself the blessing. To bless another, the mind must first know it has been provided for all along, that its needs were met before it thought to ask.

What feeds the mind is not the world but the presence within it, constant through every season. A mind fed this way has something to give, and gives it as blessing.

Joseph: the part of the mind being blessed, the beloved self toward which the awakened identity turns Abraham and Isaac: the earlier steps of the awakening mind, the ancestors of faith who walked the same path of trust God which fed me: the presence within that sustains the mind unbroken through its whole journey, the source love draws upon

Live Genesis 48:15 today

  1. Before you check your phone in the morning, count three ordinary things that have been taken care of without your effort, the water, the bed, the person who still answers your texts. Start the day from fed rather than from behind.
  2. Tell someone today what they have been to you over the years, out loud and specifically. Not a thank you for one favor, a short account of being looked after.
  3. When you feel scarce and snappish, the inbox full, the money tight, stop and name what has already held you up to this point. Then speak to the next person from that, not from the shortage.

What has been quietly carrying me that I have never once thanked?

The same truth in other traditions

Tao Te Ching

The Way feeds everything without announcing itself and never runs out. You were being carried long before you thought to be grateful.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

Look back at the whole stretch of your life and count what has already been given. Gratitude for what has arrived is steadier than wanting for what has not.

Sufism

The cup that is already full is the only one that can pour. Give from what you have received, not from what you are still hoping to get.
