Genesis 6:19 · World English Bible

Genesis 6:19 Meaning Of Every Living Thing of All Flesh

Of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every sort into the ship, to keep them alive with you. They shall be male and female.

What does Genesis 6:19 mean?

2 of every living thing brought into the ark, male and female, are the pairs of opposites preserved within the sealed sanctuary of the body. Every force in a person moves in a couple, active and receptive, positive and negative, the giving current and the taking one, and both halves must be carried through the dissolving or life cannot begin again on the far side.

Nothing is admitted alone. The flesh in all its kinds is saved only as balanced pairs, so that when the flood of spirit passes, the whole nature stands intact and able to generate anew.

  1. Instead of trying to delete the part of you that is restless or sad, let it sit next to the part that is steady. Both of you are going to get through the day together.
  2. With someone you disagree with, carry their side as well as your own for one conversation. Say their best point out loud before you make yours.
  3. Under pressure, hold the two true things at once. This is hard and I can do it. I am angry and I still care about this person. The pair is what keeps you upright.

Which part of myself have I been trying to leave behind instead of bring along?
