Genesis 7:2 · World English Bible

Genesis 7:2 Meaning You Shall Take Seven Pairs of Every

You shall take seven pairs of every clean animal with you, the male and his female. Of the animals that are not clean, take two, the male and his female.

What does Genesis 7:2 mean?

The animals are the forces and appetites within a person, gathered before the flood of purification washes through. The clean beasts, taken by sevens, are the higher energies aligned with the 7 centers up the spine, and they enter in fullness; the unclean, taken only by twos, are the lower cravings, admitted in the barest pair.

Male and female are the active and receptive currents balanced in each energy. As the inner waters rise to drown the old self, the spiritual forces are kept in sacred completeness while the animal appetites are held to a minimum.

Live Genesis 7:2 today

  1. Give the good thing the bigger portion today. More minutes on the walk, the music, the real conversation, and keep the scroll to a small plate on the side.
  2. Let the person who makes you calmer have a generous amount of your time, and give the one who always leaves you drained only what you actually owe them.
  3. When you are stressed and reaching for the usual comfort, let yourself have a little rather than all of it. The craving gets its pair, not the whole room.

Right effort is to feed what leads toward clarity and starve what leads toward fog. Both arise in you, and they do not deserve the same portion.

The five colors blind the eye and the five flavors dull the mouth. The sage provides for the belly and not for the craving of the eye.

Who is strong? The one who rules their own urges. Not the one who has none, the one who sets the portion.
