CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
A mind that looks upon another's exposure and hurries to tell it abroad is choosing to see guilt where forgiveness could have covered it. The uncovered father is the sight of another's frailty, and there are two ways to meet it: to publish the fault, which is attack, or to overlook it, which is love. To carry the report outward is the ego's work, spreading the judgment it has made.
What looks like honesty is the wish to find someone diminished, so the one who tells may feel less exposed himself. The correction is quiet. A mind at peace sees a brother's weakness and does not make a story of it, because it no longer needs anyone to be less than innocent.
Father: the source and authority within the mind, seen for a moment in its apparent frailty and vulnerability. Nakedness: the exposed guilt of another, the fault the mind may either publish as attack or gently overlook. Brethren without: the separated thoughts to whom judgment is carried, the audience the ego seeks for its accusations.

ESOTERIC
Ham is the heated, lower passional nature in a person, the sensual faculty whose name carries the meaning of hot and dark, and to look on the father's nakedness is the base mind's gaze fixed on the exposed generative power, the creative force viewed through appetite rather than reverence. Canaan, the offspring, is the lowland condition that springs from consciousness bent down to the senses. The 2 brethren without are the higher faculties standing apart from that gaze, and telling them abroad is the passional nature broadcasting outward what should have been kept inward and covered.
The movement here is the lower self turning the exposed sacred energy of a person into something stared at and spread abroad. When the heated nature looks on the creative power with appetite instead of covering it, the result is a descent, the begetting of a lower state within one's own being.
Ham: the heated, lower passional nature in a person, the sensual faculty drawn to what is exposed. Canaan: the lowland condition begotten when consciousness bends down toward the senses. The nakedness of the father: the exposed generative and creative power, seen through appetite rather than reverence. The 2 brethren: the higher faculties that stand apart, keeping covered what the lower nature exposes.

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
Ham sees his father exposed and vulnerable and hurries to broadcast it, and that gleeful contempt is the sin, not the seeing. His brothers will walk in backward and cover the old man without looking, reverent before a weakness that could have been their own. Ham does the opposite. He makes his father's shame into a spectacle to be carried out and shared. To delight in the exposed vulnerability of the father is to despise the spirit that gave a man his footing in the world.
This enslaves you, and the curse falling on his line is the natural shape of that self-inflicted bondage. Criticism has a proper purpose, and it is to separate the wheat from the chaff, not to burn the whole field to the ground. A man who can only mock what raised him has already impoverished himself.
