MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The one who says Lo, I come is a person's own imagination stepping forward to fulfill what was set for it. The volume of the book written of him is scripture read as his own life story, not a record of others. Every character and scene is written of the reader, and to do the will of God is to enter the state assumed and bring it to pass from within. The whole book bends toward the one who reads himself into it.

To do the will is not to strain after commands but to let the inner desire take its appointed form. The book is about him. A person is the figure it was written about, and the doing is his own assuming. When he places himself at the center and lives from the end he wants, he is the one who has come to carry it out.

Live Hebrews 10:7 today

  1. Open something you keep meaning to read, a book, a letter, a long message, and read one page as if it were written about you specifically. Not as advice, as description.
  2. The next time someone tells you a story about their week, listen for the part that is also about you, then say that part out loud to them.
  3. When a day piles up and you feel pushed around by it, pause before the next email and decide who you are in this scene rather than reacting as whoever the day has made you.

If today were a page written about you, who is the person it describes?

Upanishads

The teaching says: you are that. The vast reality described in the sacred words is not a report about something far away, it is a description of the one reading it.

Zen

A student kept asking the teacher about the scriptures until the teacher told him to look for his own original face. The texts point back at the reader, and the reading is finished only when he finds himself in them.

The Mathnawi opens with a cut reed crying for the reed bed it came from. Whoever hears that song is hearing his own separation described, not someone else's.
