Hebrews 4:4 Meaning For He Has Said This Somewhere About

For he has said this somewhere about the seventh day, “God rested on the seventh day from all his works;”

What does Hebrews 4:4 mean?

After all the doing comes rest, and this rest is not a reward for labor but the very ground on which labor stands. God rested the seventh day from all his works, and in that rest lies the deepest teaching: that Being precedes and underlies all doing.

Ego v. Being

After all the doing comes rest, and this rest is not a reward for labor but the very ground on which labor stands. God rested the seventh day from all his works, and in that rest lies the deepest teaching: that Being precedes and underlies all doing.

You know this rest whenever the compulsive activity of the mind falls silent and you simply are, aware and at peace, needing to accomplish nothing. It is always available beneath your activity, the still dimension from which every action arises and to which it returns. To rest is to stop identifying with what you do and to know yourself as the awareness that was already there before any work began.
