Hebrews 7:3 Meaning Without Father

without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God), remains a priest continually.

What does Hebrews 7:3 mean?

Beneath the story of your life, the parents you came from, the history that shaped you into someone, there is that in you which has no lineage at all. It was not born and it will not die.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

Beneath the story of your life, the parents you came from, the history that shaped you into someone, there is that in you which has no lineage at all. It was not born and it will not die. It has neither beginning of days nor end of life, because it does not belong to time.

This is what you most truly are: not the person with a past, but the timeless awareness in which the person appears and moves. That presence does not arrive and depart. It abides continually, as the still and conscious space within which your entire life is unfolding right now.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

Melchizedek is the self as God, with no father, no mother, no line of descent, and no start or finish in time. This describes what you find when you wake to who you have always been beneath the borrowed name and family you wear now. The awareness that says I AM was never born and cannot die; it only forgot itself by putting on flesh.

To be without beginning or end is to stand outside the whole story of birth and death you take yourself to be caught in. You are not the creation, a thing made and dated; you are the creator, self-existent, only asleep to it for a while. The priest who abides continually is that changeless I AM in you, wearing every passing state yet belonging to none. When you see this, you know yourself as the fatherless origin of all you behold.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

Melchizedek, whose name breaks into melek and zedek, "king of righteousness," is the eternal principle of higher consciousness that has no lineage in the flesh because it was never born of the body and cannot die with it. Without father, without mother, without descent names a level of awareness that does not descend through the bloodline of the lower nature; it simply is, standing outside the chain of birth and death that governs the physical self. Having neither beginning of days nor end of life, it is the changeless witness seated above time in a person.

This priest who abides continually is the permanent inner officiant, the deathless self that mediates between the human being and the source without ever entering the cycle of generation. It is made like unto the Son of God because it is the same divine spark, the changeless center that every person carries beneath the perishing outer layers. What is born and what dies is only the surface; this remains.

PSYCHOANALYSIS

Psychoanalysis

A figure with no father, no mother, and no family line is not a man out of history. He is an image rising from the deep layer of mind we all share, the form the mind gives to whatever in us does not age and cannot die.

He stands for the timeless center of the personality, the part never made and never lost. Belonging to no single life, his work has no end. That is why he stays a priest forever: he is the inner go-between joining the everyday self to the deeper mind, and that joining never stops, because the center he serves has no first day and no last.

Live Hebrews 7:3 today

  1. Sometime today, in a quiet minute, feel the part of you that is simply awake and aware. It has no age, no job title, no family history attached to it.
  2. When you catch yourself introducing yourself by your work or your past, remember privately that none of that is the one doing the remembering.
  3. When someone reduces you to a version of yourself from years ago, or you do it to yourself, let the label pass without defending it. What is actually here was never the label.

If you set aside everything about you that had a starting date, what is left?

Tao Te Ching 25

There is something that was there before heaven and earth, silent and without form, and it does not age. It cannot be named, only sensed.

Upanishads

What you truly are was not born and does not die. The body and the story have a beginning and an end; the awareness they appear in does not.

Zen

They ask you to show your face before your parents were born. The question is not a riddle to solve but a place to look.
