Isaiah 11:2 Meaning Yahweh’s Spirit Will Rest on Him

Yahweh’s Spirit will rest on him: the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Yahweh.

What does Isaiah 11:2 mean?

The spirit rests. It does not strive or grasp.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

The spirit rests. It does not strive or grasp. Wisdom and understanding do not arrive through more thinking. They descend into you the moment the restless mind grows still. When you are fully present, an intelligence far deeper than thought can flow through you.

This is the difference between knowledge and wisdom. Knowledge is stored in the mind, but wisdom rises out of stillness. When you stop trying to figure everything out and simply become present, clarity comes on its own, because you have made the inner space in which it can appear.

Live Isaiah 11:2 today

  1. When you are stuck on something today, close the laptop and do nothing with it for ten minutes. No podcast, no scrolling. Let the answer come up on its own, because it usually does.
  2. In a conversation where you would normally be forming your reply while the other person talks, just listen all the way to the end. The right thing to say tends to be waiting there.
  3. Before a meeting or a hard call, sit in the car or at your desk for one quiet minute without your phone. Arrive settled instead of arriving full.

When was the last time an answer came to you while you were not trying to find it?

Tao Te Ching 15

Muddy water clears when it is left alone. The clearing is not work you do, it is work you stop doing.

Zen

A bell sounds clearly only in a quiet room. Thinking harder about the answer is more noise in the room.

When the churning of the mind settles, what is real shows itself. Nothing was added. The stirring simply stopped.
