Isaiah 40:5 Meaning Yahweh’s Glory Shall Be Revealed

Yahweh’s glory shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of Yahweh has spoken it.

What does Isaiah 40:5 mean?

A hidden treasure longs to be found, and a lamp shining in a locked room is brightness wasted. The promise is that one day the covering will be drawn back and every eye will see the same light together.

SUFISM

Sufism

A hidden treasure longs to be found, and a lamp shining in a locked room is brightness wasted. The promise is that one day the covering will be drawn back and every eye will see the same light together. What dims a heart now is distraction and self, which make the light glance off instead of entering.

The cure is to keep polishing, clearing the heart by remembrance and honesty so it is ready when the veil lifts. Spoken to a people worn thin in exile, the seeing is still ahead, promised by the Voice itself.

Live Isaiah 40:5 today

  1. Pick one thing you keep half-hidden from yourself, a bill you have not opened, a message you keep swiping past, and look straight at it for a minute. Honesty is the cloth that does the polishing.
  2. In your next conversation, put the phone face down and out of reach, and let the other person finish a whole thought without you preparing your reply. You will see more of them in five minutes than in a week of split attention.
  3. When the day crowds in and you feel scattered across six tabs, stop, close all but one, and name quietly what you are actually doing. Distraction is not a character flaw, it is just a film on the glass, and it wipes off.

What have I been too busy to see clearly this week?

The same truth in other traditions

Tao Te Ching

The sage does not add light to the world, but clears away the dust that blocks it. What shines is already there, waiting on a surface clean enough to carry it.

Zen

Teachers compare the mind to a mirror thick with grime: nothing new has to be installed, only the grime wiped off. The seeing that comes after is ordinary seeing, finally unobstructed.

Bhagavad Gita

Krishna tells Arjuna that knowledge shines like the sun once the clouds of a divided mind thin out. The problem was never the sun's absence, only the weather in front of it.
