Jeremiah 5:22 Meaning Don’t You Fear Me

Don’t you fear me?’ says Yahweh ‘Won’t you tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it can’t pass it? Though its waves toss themselves, yet they can’t prevail. Though they roar, they still can’t pass over it.’

What does Jeremiah 5:22 mean?

Within you there is a stillness the mind can never reach. Thoughts and emotions rise like waves; they toss themselves and roar, and it can feel certain they will overwhelm you.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

Within you there is a stillness the mind can never reach. Thoughts and emotions rise like waves; they toss themselves and roar, and it can feel certain they will overwhelm you. Yet they never do. However fierce the storm of thinking becomes, something in you stays untouched, aware, present.

This is the deeper dimension of who you are, the awareness beneath the noise. The waves cannot prevail against it, because they move on its surface while it holds them from below. The turbulence will still come, but when you rest in that presence, you are no longer swept away.

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

Clinical Psychology

The sea throws itself at the shore forever and never wins, held back by a line drawn in something as weak as sand. Chaos is not absent from the world. Something has bounded it, and the boundary is the miracle.

A man forgets this when the noise grows loud and the waves stand up tall. He mistakes the roar for power. But the limit was set before he arrived and holds whether he trembles or not. Reverence for that order is not superstition. It marks the accurate recognition that he lives inside a structure he did not build and could not survive without.

Live Jeremiah 5:22 today

  1. During the next wave of anxiety, say to yourself, this is loud and it is not all of me. Let it roar and stay seated through it.
  2. When a family dinner or a group chat tips into argument, stop trying to flatten the storm and simply be the one in it who is not swept away. Your steadiness does more than your rebuttal.
  3. Under real pressure at work, a deadline, a hard call, an inbox you dread, pause for two breaths before you act. The water underneath the chop is where you want to answer from.

When feelings are at their loudest, can you find the part of you they are moving across rather than drowning?

Tao Te Ching 8

Water yields to everything and is worn down by nothing. Its strength is that it does not fight the waves on its surface.

Buddhism · the ocean image

The surface churns with wind while the deep water stays quiet. Both are the same ocean, and you are not only the surface.

The mind that keeps its own citadel is undisturbed, like a rock the sea breaks against without moving it.
