John 10:10 Meaning The Thief Only Comes to Steal

The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.

What does John 10:10 mean?

The ego has one purpose, and it is loss. Everything it offers is a form of taking, because separation can only diminish; it steals a mind's peace, teaches it to see death everywhere, and calls this survival.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The ego has one purpose, and it is loss. Everything it offers is a form of taking, because separation can only diminish; it steals a mind's peace, teaches it to see death everywhere, and calls this survival. But the intent behind fear is easy to name once a mind stops trusting it: whatever leaves a person smaller, guiltier, or more afraid has come to rob.

Love comes for the opposite and hides nothing. It comes so that a mind might have life, and have it in fullness, because love does not divide what it touches; it extends and increases. Where the ego subtracts, love adds, and a mind chooses between the two by asking simply which one leaves it more whole.

Thief: the ego, the belief in separation whose every gift is a theft of peace Life: the fullness love gives, the wholeness that increases rather than diminishes the mind

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

The thief is not only some outside danger; it is the compulsive thinking mind itself, the voice that steals your attention from this moment and carries it off into worry, regret, and endless comparison. Under its rule, life is quietly drained away one distracted moment at a time, even while the body goes on breathing.

Life more abundant is not a longer life or a fuller calendar. It is what remains when attention returns to the present moment and stops being robbed by thought: a fullness felt directly, in the simple aliveness of seeing, hearing, and breathing right now. That abundance becomes available the instant you stop letting the thief carry your attention away from where you actually are.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The thief is every thought that argues for lack, the inner voice that takes from a person what he has assumed by making him doubt it. It steals by talking him out of the wish already granted, kills by draining the feeling that held it, and destroys the state before it can harden into fact. Nothing outside a person robs him; the theft happens within, whenever an assumption is surrendered to the evidence of the senses.

Against this stands the awareness of being, which comes that a person might live more abundantly. That fuller life is not added from elsewhere; it rises the moment one claims to be what he wants and refuses to let the claim be stolen. The power within rewards the claim held. A person keeps his life abundant by keeping the assumption, and loses it only when he lets the thief inside.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

The thief is the lower ego-mind, the appetite that enters the house of the body only to drain its life, stealing the inner force, killing awareness, and wasting the store of energy on the senses. Against it stands the Christ within, the awakened higher self whose whole coming is to restore and multiply that same life. Abundant life is the raised current felt at full flow, the energy no longer leaking out through desire but gathered and lifted so the person brims with it. The 2 visitors want opposite things from the one dwelling, and the flesh must learn which it has been letting in.

One presence robs the body of its vitality, the other fills it past the brim, and the difference is whether the ego or the awakened self holds the door.

The thief: the lower ego-mind that enters the body only to drain its life-force through the senses Christ (I am come): the awakened higher self within a person, come to restore and multiply the inner life

CYBERNETICS

Cybernetics

Two forces work on a person from within, and they can be told apart by what they leave behind. One steals, kills, and destroys: this is the accusing image that drains vitality, narrows a life, and shuts it down from the inside. It never announces itself; it just quietly takes. Its whole errand is subtraction.

The other comes to give life, and to give it more abundantly. The One who speaks here offers a fuller way of living, and where that gift is received the self-image opens and the whole person expands into it. A man measures which voice he has been listening to by a plain test. One has been shrinking him. The other has been enlarging his life.

Live John 10:10 today

  1. Watch what one app does to you today. If you put the phone down smaller, meaner, or more worried than when you picked it up, that is the whole answer, and you can close it without a speech about it.
  2. In a group chat, add instead of subtract. Skip the clever line at someone's expense and send the thing you actually appreciate about them, even if it feels plain.
  3. Under pressure, check which voice you are following by asking what it leaves behind. The one that makes you hurry, hide, or get sharp with people is robbing you, whatever it claims it is protecting.

Which of today's choices left me more whole, and which quietly took something?

Bhagavad Gita

Two natures pull at a person, one that grasps and one that gives. The grasping one promises fullness and always leaves you with less, so you are taught to tell them apart by their fruit.

Tao Te Ching 81

The sage gives and is not emptied by it. What is poured out in love returns, while what is seized shrinks in the hand that took it.

Stoicism · Epictetus

The things that trouble you are not the things themselves but your judgments about them. Fear arrives selling protection and takes your calm as payment.
