John 10:9 Meaning I Am the Door

I am the door. If anyone enters in by me, he will be saved, and will go in and go out, and will find pasture.

What does John 10:9 mean?

Salvation is not rescue from a real danger but passage into a peace the mind never actually left. Through the open way of love, a mind is saved in the only sense that means anything: it is set free from the belief in its own guilt.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Salvation is not rescue from a real danger but passage into a peace the mind never actually left. Through the open way of love, a mind is saved in the only sense that means anything: it is set free from the belief in its own guilt. And this freedom is not confinement. A mind that has passed through love goes in and out without fear, at home wherever it is, because it carries its safety within and no longer needs a place to hide.

What it finds is nourishment that does not run dry. The peace on the other side of fear is not a reward held back for the worthy; it is simply what a mind rests in once it stops defending against itself.

Door: the love within the mind that is the way to peace, the open passage that saves by admitting all Pasture: the sustaining peace a mind finds beyond fear, the quiet abundance that does not run out

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

You keep looking for the way in as though it were somewhere else, some future understanding, some door at the end of a long corridor of seeking. And all the while the opening is closer than your own breath. It is this moment, the only place anything has ever actually happened, the single point where life is real. The door is not ahead of you in time. It is here, and it is now, and it has never once been shut.

To enter is simply to be fully in the present, to let your attention come home from its wandering in past and future and rest in what is. Then you find that you can go in and out freely, moving through your days without losing the ground, because the peace was never in the circumstances but in your presence to them. The pasture is not a reward for arriving somewhere. It is what is already here the instant you stop looking elsewhere and step through the doorway of Now.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The doorway into any life you desire is the plain words "I am." Whatever you honestly attach to that feeling, you walk through into, because to say "I am" and then name a condition is to step across a threshold and stand inside it. No other entrance exists. The gate is the sense of being itself, a threshold everyone already carries.

Once a man passes through by claiming a new identity, he moves freely and is fed by the world that matches it. Going in and out is the ease of one who no longer struggles to arrive, because he has already entered. The feeding follows the entering. Assumption is the door, and it opens the moment it is used.

Live John 10:9 today

  1. Try an ordinary ten minutes with no screen, in the car before you go in, or standing in the kitchen. Nothing has to happen in it. See whether the quiet is actually empty or whether it was waiting there the whole time.
  2. Spend time with someone today without the small self-protections, no résumé, no joke to get ahead of the awkwardness. Let the pause sit and let them fill it or not.
  3. When the day turns against you, a bad email, traffic, a difficult call, tell yourself plainly that nothing has been taken from you. Carry on with the task from that, instead of from the need to get the peace back.

What am I guarding that was never actually at risk?

The person at ease moves through the world without a shell. Having nowhere that must be defended, every place becomes a place to rest.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

You can withdraw into yourself at any moment, and nowhere is quieter or freer from disturbance than your own mind. The retreat is portable, so you never have to go anywhere to find it.

Buddhism · Dhammapada

Peace is not somewhere you arrive. The one who has stopped fighting themselves is calm sitting, calm walking, calm in a crowd.
