John 16:26 Meaning In That Day You Will Ask
In that day you will ask in my name; and I don’t say to you that I will pray to the Father for you,

John 16:26 · World English Bible
In that day you will ask in my name; and I don’t say to you that I will pray to the Father for you,
The name means the state, not the word. Not invoking a formula but acting from the same consciousness.
From the Ego v. Being reading below.
The same verse, read by 2 traditions.

EGO & BEING
The name means the state, not the word.
Not invoking a formula but acting from the same consciousness. The name points to the state, not a password.

ESOTERIC
The day spoken of is the state in which a person no longer reaches toward the divine through a mediator outside himself. To ask in the name is to work from within the very nature and power of the inner Christ, so that no go-between is needed between the man and the source. The Father is the highest center at the crown, and the awakened self stands in direct contact with it.
The absence of any intercession is the whole point: the kingdom is within, and once the inner self is roused, the person draws from the source directly, with nothing standing between.
The Father: the highest center at the crown of the body, the source of all the inner life. The name: the nature and power of the inner divine self, worked from within rather than appealed to from without.
Ego v. Being lens
Where in my life am I saying the words of something I am not actually standing in?
A student who repeats the master's words has borrowed a coat, not grown skin. The teaching asks you to stand where the master stands, not to quote where he stood.
The name is not the thing named. Say "Tao" all day and you have still only made a sound; the reality is reached by becoming quiet enough to be it.
The lover who calls out the beloved's name is already answered inside the calling. The word was never the bridge, the longing was.
