John 17:10 Meaning All Things That Are Mine Are Yours

All things that are mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them.

What does John 17:10 mean?

The boundary dissolves. What is mine is yours, and yours is mine.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

The boundary dissolves. What is mine is yours, and yours is mine. This is the voice of a mind that no longer defends a separate self. The small me that clings to its possessions and its name has grown quiet, and what remains sees no real line between itself and the source of all life.

To be glorified in others is to have that same awareness awaken in them. When you become present, you do not become special. The one life that lives in everyone is simply becoming visible through you, and that is what glory truly means.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The mine and thine are not two beings sharing property. They are the two ends of one inner life, the awareness of being and the states it conceives, and the verse folds them into each other until no line remains. What belongs to the conceiver belongs to what he conceives, and what belongs to the states belongs back to the awareness that holds them.

Glorified in them means the awareness of being is made visible through its own states, seen and known in the very things it has assumed. A person does not shine apart from what he imagines. He shines as it, drawn out and displayed in the conditions he wears. The self and the states it fuses with are one movement. Whatever a person contains, he is revealed in, and there is no self to find behind the states except the one appearing through them.

SUFISM

Sufism

Here is a love so complete that ownership has dissolved between the two who share it. The clenched heart labels things its own and guards them, forgetting that whatever a person holds is only a loan. Loosening those fingers, giving freely, is how the grip is healed.

Water poured between two cups fits each and stays one water. So the gift and the giver are one reality seen from two sides. God is made visible in the ones who belong to Him, and handing them back is where the hidden splendor finally shows.

Live John 17:10 today

  1. Sometime today when you are alone, say what you own out loud in your head, your phone, your car, your savings, and then sit with the odd feeling that none of it is finally yours. Hold it more loosely for an hour and see how the hour goes.
  2. The next time someone close to you tells you good news, let yourself be glad as if it happened to you, with no part of you keeping score. Say it plainly to them, no hedging.
  3. In a meeting or a group chat where credit is being handed around, let a win be shared instead of claimed. Say "we" and mean it, even when your name would have fit there.

Where did I first learn that what is good for you has to be a loss for me?

Upanishads

The self in you and the self in all things are not two. To see that is to stop guarding a border that was never there.

Tao Te Ching 22

The sage does not shine on his own account, which is why his light is seen. He takes no credit, so nothing he does is small.
