John 17:11 Meaning I Am No More in the World

I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them through your name which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are.

What does John 17:11 mean?

To be no more in the world is to have withdrawn all belief from it while others still take it for home. The awakened mind does not abandon them; it turns toward the Source and holds them there, asking that they be kept safe not from circumstances but from the belief in separation itself.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

To be no more in the world is to have withdrawn all belief from it while others still take it for home. The awakened mind does not abandon them; it turns toward the Source and holds them there, asking that they be kept safe not from circumstances but from the belief in separation itself.

The one prayer is that they be one, as Love is one. Fear teaches that minds are many and divided, each sealed in its body, but the truth is a single wholeness that was never split. A mind kept in the Father's name is kept in the memory that it was never apart.

World: the ego's picture of separation, the seeming home of divided minds, held to be real only while belief is given it.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

The deepest prayer is for oneness, that the many might know themselves as one. What keeps people apart is not distance but the sense of being a separate self, each mind walled inside its own story, defending its borders. This separateness is the root of every conflict.

Oneness is not something you construct by agreement. It is what remains when the illusion of the separate self grows quiet and you sense the same awareness looking out through every pair of eyes. To be kept as one is to be held in that shared presence beneath all forms. When you feel it, the walls between you and another soften, because you recognize that at the deepest level there was only ever one life, appearing as many.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The one speaking has finished with the world of appearances and turns inward to the source of all things, the awareness that says I am. That awareness is the Father, and to be kept in its name is to be held in the settled sense of being the person you have accepted yourself to be. Those left in the world are the states not yet awakened to this, still tossed by what they see.

Oneness here means the discovery that the one who imagines and the power that creates were never two. They are one. A person and his own consciousness are a single thing wearing different faces. When that is felt rather than argued, the split closes, and the life outside begins to answer to the man within.

SUFISM

Sufism

A friend prays for the people he is leaving, and what he asks for them is oneness. Streams look separate on the ground, yet each is only the one spring, moving. The heart forgets this and treats every other person as a rival, and that forgetting is its own blindness.

So the quiet practice is to hold someone in prayer by name, as he does here, until they stop being other. The keeping he asks for is real and still to come, and it works from the inside: hearts turned toward one source are already less divided than they think.

Live John 17:11 today

  1. Think of one person you worry about and hold them in mind for a minute without trying to fix anything. Wanting their good quietly is its own kind of help.
  2. When you message someone who is struggling, skip the advice and say that you are with them. Presence lands where solutions bounce off.
  3. In a tense meeting or a crowded commute, pick one person who irritates you and remember that their day is as full and complicated as yours. The sense of two separate camps loosens fast.

Who am I keeping on the other side of a line that is not really there?

Upanishads

That which is deepest in you is the same as that which is deepest in everyone. The many are a way of counting, not a way of being.

Buddhism · Metta

Holding another person in goodwill is not sentimental, it is accurate. You wish them well because their wellbeing and yours were never two separate projects.

Sufism · Ibn Arabi

All apparent separation is one reality wearing many faces. What looks like a crowd of strangers is a single thing looking back at itself.
