To keep them in the name is to hold them in a nature, for a name is the feeling-state a thing carries. The awareness that plays every human part holds each of its states safe within the sense of being it wears, and not one is finally destroyed. Every self a person passes through is preserved; nothing that enters this drama is truly cancelled, since all of it is the one being trying on forms.
The son of perdition, the one that seems lost, is the belief in loss itself, the conviction that something can be taken away for good. That state too plays its part, because the whole pattern must be lived through before it is understood. Even the sense of losing is a role the one actor wears, and its ending completes the story rather than breaking it. Loss is a state passed through, not a thing that happens to you.
