John 17:14 Meaning I Have Given Them Your Word

I have given them your word. The world hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

What does John 17:14 mean?

The word given is the truth that Love alone is real, and the world hates this word because it undoes the world. What the ego built cannot welcome what dissolves it, so a mind that carries truth will seem to meet hostility from every side.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The word given is the truth that Love alone is real, and the world hates this word because it undoes the world. What the ego built cannot welcome what dissolves it, so a mind that carries truth will seem to meet hostility from every side. Yet the hatred is only the ego's fear of its own ending, thrown outward and mistaken for an enemy.

Those who are not of the world have simply stopped believing they belong to the dream. What looks like rejection is only the sign that a mind has begun to remember where it truly comes from.

World: the ego's construction of separation, which recoils from the truth that would undo it and calls that recoil hatred.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

The world is not the earth or the sky. It is the collective realm of mind, the endless dream of thought and identity that most take to be reality. To be given the word is to awaken from that dream, to know yourself as the awareness in which the world appears rather than a character trapped inside it.

So you are no longer of that world. The ego in others feels this and resists it, because your presence quietly exposes their own unconsciousness. What looks like hatred is simply the dream defending itself against one who has begun to wake.

Live John 17:14 today

  1. When you make a quiet choice today that goes against what everyone around you is doing, let the odd feeling just be information. Being out of step is not the same as being wrong.
  2. If someone gets sharp with you for being honest or kind, let it land without arguing or hardening. Their reaction tells you about their pressure, not about your character.
  3. In a group chat that turns on someone, stay out of the pile and say one fair thing if you can. Expect the chill that follows and let it be fine.

When I feel out of place, am I actually lost or just facing a different direction?

The person who lives from the way can look foolish to everyone around them, drifting while others chase. The mismatch is a sign of where they stand, not a mistake.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

People will block you and mock you for keeping to what is right. Keep going anyway, and let their reaction stay their business rather than becoming your measure.

Go against the current and the current pushes back. The pressure you feel is the stream's nature, not evidence that you have turned the wrong way.
