John 17:22 Meaning The Glory Which You Have Given Me

The glory which you have given me, I have given to them; that they may be one, even as we are one;

What does John 17:22 mean?

Glory is not a possession handed from one mind to another but the shining that appears when the obstacle to love is gone. What the awakened teacher gives is not something added; it is the same clearing it received, the removal of the belief in separation so that what was always radiant becomes visible again.

Glory is not a possession handed from one mind to another but the shining that appears when the obstacle to love is gone. What the awakened teacher gives is not something added; it is the same clearing it received, the removal of the belief in separation so that what was always radiant becomes visible again.

A mind is made one with every other not by effort but by sharing the single correction. The gift is the willingness to see innocence where guilt was assumed, and where that willingness is passed along, the many discover they were never divided, held in the same light the teacher was given first.

The glory passed from the source through the higher self down into the faculties is the shining energy of the divine current, handed along so that every scattered power within a person may be gathered into one. To be one as the source and the higher self are one is for the divided parts of consciousness, each pulling its own way, to fuse under a single light until there is no longer a crowd of competing drives but a unified being. The glory is the radiance that makes this joining possible, the light in which separate faculties lose their separateness. As a person awakens, the same shining that fills the higher self spreads through the whole inner assembly, and the many become one.

The glory: the shining energy of the divine current, the radiance handed down that gathers the scattered powers into one.

SUFISM

Sufism

Nothing here is homemade. The brightness passing from Father to Son and on to his own is like sunlight handed mirror to mirror, each shining only with light it received. The fault this exposes is the itch to claim the glow as one's own, which cracks the very thing meant to unite.

The cure is to let the giver vanish into the gift, holding the light so lightly it flows on undimmed. Where a heart stops hoarding the borrowed shine, the many become one, because it was always the same light.

Live John 17:22 today

  1. Think of one person you quietly file as guilty, and let yourself see the version of them that is not. You can do this alone and it changes the room anyway.
  2. Give someone today the benefit of the doubt you would want on your worst morning. Assume the short reply was a hard day and not a verdict on you.
  3. When a mistake gets made under pressure, yours or someone else's, keep the blame out of it and just handle the next step. People do their best work when they are not braced for a hit.

Whose innocence am I withholding, and what is it costing me to hold it back?

The sage gives without depleting, because what is given was never a possession. Clearing the way for another clears your own.
