John 17:26 Meaning I Made Known to Them Your Name

I made known to them your name, and will make it known; that the love with which you loved me may be in them, and I in them.

What does John 17:26 mean?

To declare the name is to make the nature of love known to a mind, and to keep declaring it is to teach that this knowing is never finished but deepens each time fear is laid down. The name is not a word but the remembered character of the Source, the assurance that what a mind comes from is love and nothing else.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

To declare the name is to make the nature of love known to a mind, and to keep declaring it is to teach that this knowing is never finished but deepens each time fear is laid down. The name is not a word but the remembered character of the Source, the assurance that what a mind comes from is love and nothing else.

Where that name is truly heard, the love the Source holds for the awakened teacher takes up residence in the mind itself, so that the teacher is no longer met as someone outside but recognized as the innocence living within. The mind ceases to look for love elsewhere and finds it is already home.

Father: the Source whose nature is love, made known to the mind as the ground it came from Name: the remembered character of the Source, the truth of what a mind is, carried within rather than sought outside

SUFISM

Sufism

A father hands his child a lantern before a long night. What is passed on is not just facts about God but the very warmth flowing between the giver and the one who receives, love with no seam in it, that cannot be told apart from the One who is loved.

The heart that wants this must first drop the wish to be admired for holding it, since love kept as a private trophy curdles into pride. Poured out quietly for others, it becomes the same light it came from, and the giver dwells wherever it is welcomed.

Live John 17:26 today

  1. Instead of waiting for someone to tell you that you are enough today, drop the question for an hour. See what you do differently when you are not auditioning.
  2. Say the plain, warm thing to one person who would not expect it from you. Not flattery, just naming what you actually see in them, out loud.
  3. When a message or a review lands badly and you feel yourself shrinking, pause before you reply. Whatever that person thinks of you did not create you and cannot unmake you.

Where am I still asking the world for something I already have?

What you seek is seeking you. The longing you feel for love is love's own voice inside you, calling itself by name.
