John 18:4 Meaning Jesus Therefore

Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that were happening to him, went out, and said to them, “Who are you looking for?”

What does John 18:4 mean?

A mind at peace does not wait in dread for what fear will bring but walks toward it, already knowing that nothing approaching from the world can touch the innocence within. To go forward and ask what is sought is the gesture of a mind that has withdrawn its defenses, because it has understood there is nothing in it that can be harmed.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

A mind at peace does not wait in dread for what fear will bring but walks toward it, already knowing that nothing approaching from the world can touch the innocence within. To go forward and ask what is sought is the gesture of a mind that has withdrawn its defenses, because it has understood there is nothing in it that can be harmed.

The question turns the encounter around. Those who come armed with guilt are met not by resistance but by a calm that offers itself freely, and in that offering the whole illusion of attacker and victim begins to dissolve, for one who cannot be threatened has already forgiven the threat.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The Lord here is your own consciousness, and it goes to meet whatever comes already knowing the end. Nothing arrives to surprise the awakened imagination, because the imagination is the cause of all it meets. It does not wait to be seized by circumstance; it steps forward and questions the very crowd that seems to arrest it. That is the mark of a person who has understood that he himself is the source of his conditions and no fact stands over him as a stranger.

The question put to the crowd is the question every state asks of you. Whom do you seek? Not the man before them, but what you accept yourself to be. You will find whatever you claim, because consciousness answers the claim you make. A person who seeks his old self meets the old life; one who has assumed the wish fulfilled meets that instead. What you settle on as yourself is what steps forward to be found.

  1. Open the email or message you have been avoiding, the one you keep scrolling past. Read it fully, today, and let the dread be smaller than it was in your head.
  2. Ask the direct question instead of circling it. Say to the person, what is actually going on here, and then stay quiet long enough to hear the answer.
  3. When someone comes at you sharp in a meeting or at the door, drop your hands instead of raising them. Ask what they need, in a normal voice, and let the fight have nowhere to land.

What am I defending that was never actually in danger?
