John 2:11 Meaning This Beginning of His Signs Jesus Did

This beginning of his signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

What does John 2:11 mean?

A miracle asks nothing of the world and changes only the way the mind perceives. Plain water becomes the wine of gladness not because matter was rearranged, but because a mind looked with love where it had looked with lack, and found abundance was there all along.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

A miracle asks nothing of the world and changes only the way the mind perceives. Plain water becomes the wine of gladness not because matter was rearranged, but because a mind looked with love where it had looked with lack, and found abundance was there all along.

This is the first shift, the turning of perception from fear to love, and it reveals the glory that was always present behind the ordinary. What follows is trust: the parts of the mind that witness the change begin to believe in the teacher who made it, which is only the mind beginning to believe in its own power to see anew.

Cana of Galilee: the ordinary place in the mind where love quietly transforms perception, showing that no special setting is needed for the shift. Jesus: the awakened part of the mind whose glory is revealed the moment perception turns from lack to love. His disciples: the faculties of the mind that witness the shift and begin to trust the power within to see the world made new.

Live John 2:11 today

  1. Somewhere completely ordinary today, the sink, the parking lot, the hallway, stop for ten seconds and look at it as though you had traveled a long way to see it. The place does not need to improve for that to work.
  2. Look at one person you see constantly, a coworker, a sibling, the man at the coffee counter, and let yourself see something in them you had stopped seeing. Say it to them if you can.
  3. When you catch the thought that your real life starts after the move, the raise, the weekend, set it down and look around at the room you are actually in.

What in front of me right now would look like a gift if I had not gotten used to it?

After awakening, the chores are the same chores. Water is still carried, wood is still chopped, and that sameness is the whole point.
