John 21:21 Meaning Peter Seeing Him

Peter seeing him, said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?”

What does John 21:21 mean?

The physical faculty, the little stone at the center of the head, turns from the higher self it should be addressing and looks sideways at another. Asked to follow its own path into the light, it grows jealous instead and measures itself against the disciple most loved, wanting to know what will become of the other rather than what will become of itself.

The physical faculty, the little stone at the center of the head, turns from the higher self it should be addressing and looks sideways at another. Asked to follow its own path into the light, it grows jealous instead and measures itself against the disciple most loved, wanting to know what will become of the other rather than what will become of itself.

This is comparison standing in the place of ascent. The inner higher self, the christ awareness that needs no priest between itself and the man, waits to be followed directly, but the stone keeps its eye on its neighbor and misses the one road that was ever its own.

Peter: the small stone, the pineal gland, the physical faculty at the center of the head Jesus: the higher self, the christ awareness within, the living force the inner faculties are meant to address

Live John 21:21 today

  1. When you open an app today and feel that small sink at someone else's news, close it and go do the next small piece of your own work. Nothing about their life was an instruction for yours.
  2. If you catch yourself asking about someone just to measure where you stand, ask them a real question instead, about how they are doing, and then actually listen to the answer.
  3. In the next meeting or review where someone is praised ahead of you, let the thought come and let it go without feeding it. Then put your attention back on the one thing you are responsible for.

If no one else existed to compare yourself to, what would you be working on today?

Bhagavad Gita 3

Better to walk your own path imperfectly than to perform someone else's well. Another person's road, however bright, will not carry you.

Stoicism · Epictetus

You are given one role to play and no say in which one. Peace comes from playing it fully instead of eyeing the part your neighbor was handed.

Zen

A monk kept asking the master about the progress of the monk beside him. The master told him to mind his own breath. The question itself was the distraction.
