John 8:29 Meaning He Who Sent Me Is with Me

He who sent me is with me. The Father hasn’t left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.

What does John 8:29 mean?

The awakened mind lives in the certainty that love has never departed from it. What the ego calls being alone, that dread of an abandoned self left to defend itself, has simply no place here, for the source of love stays present and unbroken with the mind that remembers it.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The awakened mind lives in the certainty that love has never departed from it. What the ego calls being alone, that dread of an abandoned self left to defend itself, has simply no place here, for the source of love stays present and unbroken with the mind that remembers it. The sense of separation was the only distance, and love was never a party to it.

And because the mind is joined with love, everything it does flows naturally from love and pleases it. This is not obedience under strain but the ease of a will made single. When fear no longer divides it, the mind wants only what love wants, and finds in that harmony the constant companionship it once feared it had lost.

The Father: the source of love that has never left the mind, the presence that ends the ego's dream of being alone

Live John 8:29 today

  1. When you are alone tonight and reach for your phone out of that low, restless feeling, pause for a second before you unlock it. See if the feeling is really emptiness, or just an old habit of assuming you are on your own.
  2. Spend time with one person today without performing for them. No checking how you are coming across, no half-glance at the screen, just being with them as you already are.
  3. In the meeting or the email thread where you feel outnumbered, drop the inner bracing for a moment. Say the honest thing simply, without the defense you were building first.

Where in your day do you act as if you have to face it alone?

The same truth in other traditions

Tao Te Ching

The way does its work without strain and leaves nothing undone. Acting from it feels like no effort at all, because nothing is being forced.

Sufism · Rumi

The one you are calling out to has been calling through your own voice. The longing itself is proof the beloved never stepped away.

Upanishads

The self within is not separate from the ground of everything. Knowing that, a person stops feeling stranded and begins to act without the strain of trying to earn a place.
