Judges 7:15 · World English Bible

Judges 7:15 Meaning It Was So

It was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, that he worshiped. Then he returned into the camp of Israel and said, “Arise, for Yahweh has delivered the army of Midian into your hand!”

What does Judges 7:15 mean?

A person can borrow the interpretation that changes everything, but owning it is a decision nobody else can make. The dream belonged to another man and so did the reading of it; what belonged to the one listening was the decision to let that reading be true about him.

A person can borrow the interpretation that changes everything, but owning it is a decision nobody else can make.

The dream belonged to another man and so did the reading of it; what belonged to the one listening was the decision to let that reading be true about him. Meaning taken personally changes a body on the spot, and the worship was the state change, not the ceremony.

From there the third decision costs nothing, because a man who is certain does not argue himself into the camp, he arrives already moving, and three hundred people catch the state before they ever weigh the odds. Wait for Yahweh's deliverance to be visible before letting it mean anything and the hour that needed a man closes while he is still gathering proof.

  1. Something encouraging has been said to you lately, maybe in a review, maybe by a friend, and you have been holding it at arm's length. Say it back to yourself in the first person today, out loud in the car, and then do one thing you would only do if it were true.
  2. When someone tells you they believe you can handle the thing you are dreading, resist the reflex to deflect it. Say thank you, let it land, and tell them what you are going to do about it before you leave the room.
  3. In the meeting where you usually wait for the room to agree before you commit, speak as someone who has already decided. People read your body before they read your reasons, and the certainty travels faster than the argument.

What good word about yourself are you still waiting for more proof before you will believe?
