Luke 10:6 Meaning If a Son of Peace Is There
If a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.

Luke 10:6 · World English Bible
If a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.
When one mind offers peace and another is ready to receive it, the two recognize each other and the blessing settles where it was sent. But if that readiness is not there, the peace is not lost; it simply returns to the one who gave it.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
When one mind offers peace and another is ready to receive it, the two recognize each other and the blessing settles where it was sent. But if that readiness is not there, the peace is not lost; it simply returns to the one who gave it. Love offered is never spent, for the giving and the having are the same act, and nothing true can be poured out and diminished.
So a mind need never fear that its gentleness will be wasted on the unwilling. What it extends it keeps, and a refused blessing comes home undamaged to enrich the one who blessed. This is why peace can be given freely to all, without waiting to be sure of the welcome, since it can only add to the giver and can never be taken away.
Son of peace: the readiness within another mind to receive love, the openness on which a blessing can rest House: the other mind approached, the dwelling that either welcomes peace or lets it return to its giver

EGO & BEING
The peace you carry is not something you spend. When you enter a room, you bring the quality of your own consciousness with you, and if another person is present and open, stillness meets stillness, and peace settles over both of you.
But if you meet resistance, if the other is lost in their thinking and cannot receive it, your peace is not lost. It returns to you. Real peace does not depend on being welcomed, because it does not come from the other person or the situation. It comes from within you, so it is still there when the encounter ends.

BUDDHISM
Santi: Peace The stilling of what burns in the mind. Sent out with no purse and no sandals, the seventy-two carry one thing worth handing over, and it is the quiet they already hold; nobody can pass along a calm they do not have. "Your peace" is possessive for a reason: it travels with you like the clothes on your back, into the house and out again.
Mettā: Loving-kindness Goodwill wished toward all beings without picking favorites. The greeting is spoken at the threshold before anyone knows who lives inside, offered to the household as it comes, hostile or welcoming. Like a lamp set in a doorway, it falls on whoever walks past, and its shining does not depend on being watched.
Sappurisa: A person of integrity Someone whose conduct is sound. A "son of peace" is already peaceable, and a blessing settles on such a person the way rain soaks into turned soil instead of running off packed clay. The greeting finds that receptivity rather than making it, which is why the same words land in one house and slide off the next.
Kammassakatā: Ownership of one's actions Beings are the owners of their deeds. A blessing refused is like a meal set before a guest who will not eat: the food stays on the table, still good, still the host's. So the one who spoke it walks away from the shut door no poorer than they came, since the kindness was credited to them in the speaking.
Upekkhā: Equanimity The even mind that stays level under praise and refusal alike. Whether the door opens or closes, the sending is the same work, and steadiness holds on both sides of the threshold. Peace that comes back is peace kept, so there is nothing to resent in the house that turned it down and nothing heavy to carry to the next street.
Christian Psychology lens
If kindness always comes home to me, what have I been holding back and why?
The one who gives is not emptied, because true giving comes from a spring rather than a store. What flows out keeps the channel open.
Goodwill sent toward someone who does not receive it still works on the heart that sent it. Nothing offered in kindness is lost in transit.
Do good as a vine bears grapes, not asking for gratitude and not stopping when none comes. The fruit was never payment for anything.
