Luke 11:13 Meaning If You Then

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?

What does Luke 11:13 mean?

Even a mind that believes itself guilty still wants to give good things to those it loves. If that impulse survives inside a heart convinced of its own darkness, then the Love that has no darkness at all must give without measure and without reluctance.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Even a mind that believes itself guilty still wants to give good things to those it loves. If that impulse survives inside a heart convinced of its own darkness, then the Love that has no darkness at all must give without measure and without reluctance. The comparison is meant to dissolve the fear that asking is dangerous, for the One asked is only waiting to give.

What the Father gives is not a possession but the Voice that speaks for love within the mind, the Guide that corrects perception and returns it to peace. This is given to any mind that asks, because the asking is the single act of willingness that lets the correction in. Nothing else is required, and nothing true is ever held back.

Father: the Source of the mind, whose giving is without limit, contrasted here with the imperfect but real goodness of a fearful heart. Children: those the mind loves and wishes to bless, the evidence that even guilt has not erased its will to give. Holy Spirit: the Voice for love within the mind, the Guide that heals perception, given freely to whoever asks.

Live Luke 11:13 today

  1. Sometime today, alone with your phone in your hand, ask for help with the thing you have been carrying quietly. Just a sentence, out loud or in your head, and then let yourself stop bracing for a no.
  2. Give one small good thing to someone you love without being asked, a text, a coffee, five minutes of real attention, and let that impulse remind you what you are made of.
  3. When the pressure hits, a hard meeting or traffic that will not move, ask inside for a kinder way to see it before you say the next thing. The ask itself is what opens the door.

What have you been afraid to ask for, and who told you the asking was too much?
