Luke 13:29 Meaning They Will Come From the East

They will come from the east, west, north, and south, and will sit down in God’s Kingdom.

What does Luke 13:29 mean?

From the east, the west, the north, and the south they come, and this is not a journey across the earth but the falling away of every separation the mind has built. The labels we use to divide ourselves lose their grip when awareness awakens beneath them.

Ego v. Being

From the east, the west, the north, and the south they come, and this is not a journey across the earth but the falling away of every separation the mind has built. The labels we use to divide ourselves lose their grip when awareness awakens beneath them.

To sit down is to come to rest, to stop the restless seeking that drives the ego from one place to the next. When you finally settle into the presence that was always here, you are no longer a stranger anywhere. That coming home, from whatever direction, is what it means to sit down in the kingdom.

Live Luke 13:29 today

  1. Next time you are scrolling and catch yourself sorting people into camps by how they talk or vote or believe, put the phone down and let the sorting go quiet for a minute. See what is left when the labels stop running.
  2. Have one conversation today with someone you would normally file under a category, a coworker, a neighbor, a relative you disagree with, and listen to them as a person rather than as a type.
  3. In the grocery line or stuck in traffic, instead of hunting for a faster lane, let yourself be exactly where you are. Feel your feet, your breath, the weight of your body, and let the restlessness settle.

Where am I still standing like a stranger in a place I actually belong?
