Luke 24:32 · World English Bible
They said to one another, “Weren’t our hearts burning within us, while he spoke to us along the way, and while he opened the Scriptures to us?”
The mind knew before it understood. While love walked beside it something warmed that reason had not yet named, a recognition rising from beneath thought, telling the mind it was near its own truth long before it could say so.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
The mind knew before it understood. While love walked beside it something warmed that reason had not yet named, a recognition rising from beneath thought, telling the mind it was near its own truth long before it could say so. That inward burning is memory stirring, the Self answering when the Self is spoken to, and it cannot be manufactured or argued into being.
So the surest sign that a mind has met its teacher is not a conclusion but a quiet fire, the felt nearness of what it truly is. When the old story is read back in the voice of love, the heart responds because it is only hearing home described. Understanding follows later and merely confirms what the warmth already knew.
Heart: the deeper mind beneath the reasoning surface, the place where truth is recognized before it is understood. The way: the road of ordinary life along which the teacher walks unseen, the path where love keeps company with the mind that thinks itself alone. The scriptures: the old story of the self, reopened until its every line reads as a witness to who the mind has always been.

EGO & BEING
Two travelers walk a road, heavy with grief, unable to see who walks beside them. Their minds are full of what was lost, and the mind so full of its story cannot recognize the living presence at its side.
Still, beneath the thinking, something answered. The heart burned while he spoke, a warmth that knew before the mind did. That burning is the deeper self recognizing what words alone could not deliver. When old meanings open from within, a person feels this quiet fire, and only afterward does the thinking mind catch up and name what was already understood.

MANIFESTATION
The burning heart is the mark of Scripture coming alive from the inside, the moment the story stops being about strangers and turns out to be about you. Two walk the road and only afterward name the fire they felt while the meaning was opened to them. That fire is recognition. It is the awareness stirring as it hears its own biography read back to it under the old names.
To have the Scriptures opened is to see that every figure in them is a state within yourself and the whole account is your own unfolding. The one who walks beside them and opens the pages is their own imagination, unrecognized until the heart answers. A person knows the truth of these things by the warmth that rises when he reads himself where he once read history. That warmth is the awakening beginning to declare itself.

AWARENESS
The heart burned while the mind walked beside a stranger and could not place him. Truth is recognized far below the head, and by the time the head catches up the guest has already left the table.
That burning is the only reliable sign a person has. Doctrine can be repeated for a lifetime without a single spark, borrowed and cold. When something inside answers with heat, without argument, without waiting for the mind's approval, contact has happened. Walk with that heat rather than with the explanation that comes afterward, since the explanation is memory and the heat is happening now.
Christian Psychology lens
When did something ring true in you today, before you could explain it?
There is a response in you that knows before you do. The heart recognizes its own country well ahead of the mind drawing the map.
When the self is spoken of truly, something in you answers. That answering is the self, not an argument about it.
The taste of water needs no explanation and survives every explanation. You know you have drunk before you can say why.
