To the mind that asks for proof, love offers only the evidence of changed perception. Every item in the list is one movement seen from a different angle: the mind that could not see now sees, the mind that could not move now moves, the mind cast out as unclean is welcomed home. None of it describes a rearranged world; all of it describes minds that have changed teachers and so changed what they behold.
And to the poor, the ones who know they have nothing of their own, the good news comes first. Emptiness of ego is the readiest ground, for a mind that has stopped defending its lack is free to receive its worth.
The blind: the mind that looked through fear and so saw no innocence anywhere.
The lame: the mind held motionless by guilt, unable to walk toward its own release.
The lepers: the thoughts a mind judges unclean and pushes to the margins, waiting to be received again.
The deaf: the mind that could not hear the Voice for love beneath the ego's louder claims.
The poor: the mind that knows it owns nothing of itself and is therefore open to everything love gives.
