CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
Life returns to the mind the instant it is reached, without delay and without effort, for what was called death was only sleep. Nothing had to be created in her; the spirit that seemed to have gone had merely been unrecognized, and it answered at once when it was called by love.
That she is given food to eat is the reminder that the waking is meant to be lived. A mind restored is not carried off into abstraction but returned to the ordinary care of the day, its healing shown in the plain fact of being nourished and going on.
Maid: the mind newly wakened from the dream of death, the self that rises the moment love reaches it. Meat: the ordinary sustenance that grounds the awakening, the plain nourishment showing the healed mind is meant to live and continue.

What simple care do I skip, as if daily life were beneath what I am after?
After the great awakening, you still chop the wood and carry the water. Clarity shows up in the ordinary chores, not away from them.
The true person breathes, eats and sleeps like anyone else. The difference is not in the doing, it is in the ease.
The Buddha accepted a bowl of milk rice before he was able to wake. The body is not an obstacle to clarity, it is fed so clarity can continue.
