Luke 9:1 Meaning He Called the Twelve Together

He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.

What does Luke 9:1 mean?

The power to heal is never manufactured; it is given, received from the teacher of love and carried outward. A mind that has been shown the truth is not meant to hoard it but to extend it, and in extending it discovers that it holds the very authority it thought belonged to another.

The power to heal is never manufactured; it is given, received from the teacher of love and carried outward. A mind that has been shown the truth is not meant to hoard it but to extend it, and in extending it discovers that it holds the very authority it thought belonged to another.

The devils and diseases over which this power is given are the forms fear takes, the shapes guilt wears when it is thrown outward as sickness and torment. Authority over them is not a strength that fights them but the recognition that they have no reality of their own, being only the dream from which the mind may waken and help others waken too.

Twelve disciples: the parts of the mind trained by love and sent to extend it, the healed thoughts that carry the correction to every other thought. Devils: the forms fear takes when it seems to possess the mind, the shapes of guilt that only look like an outside power.

The 12 gathered as one are the 12 cranial nerves of the head, the same 12 signs that circle the zodiac, drawn together into a single working order. The number 12 is the perfected circle, the completed round in which nothing is left scattered, and when the nerve-centers of the head come into that whole, the energy already seated in them is released as command.

That command is authority over the devils, which are the carnal mind and its disorders, the restless lower thought that breeds every disturbance in the body. Power here is not something brought from outside; it is the charge already resting in the inner centers, freed the moment the head is brought into its perfected circle and the lower mind falls under the quiet single eye within.

  1. Take the one thing that genuinely helped you this year and write it down somewhere you will find it. You cannot pass on what you have not named.
  2. Tell someone what got you through, not as advice, just as your story. People take more from what you lived than from what you recommend.
  3. When the pressure makes you want to protect your own ground at work, share the thing you know instead. Teaching it is how you discover you actually have it.

What did someone give me that I have been quietly keeping to myself?
