Luke 9:56 · World English Bible

Luke 9:56 Meaning For the Son of Man Didn’t Come

For the Son of Man didn’t come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.” They went to another village.

What does Luke 9:56 mean?

The awakened Self enters the world with a single purpose, and that purpose is never destruction. The ego cannot conceive of a strength that does not conquer, so it imagines even salvation as a kind of defeat handed to an enemy.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The awakened Self enters the world with a single purpose, and that purpose is never destruction. The ego cannot conceive of a strength that does not conquer, so it imagines even salvation as a kind of defeat handed to an enemy. But the Self that has remembered its wholeness has no enemy to defeat. It comes only to release, to lift the mind out of the dream of attack rather than to win the dream.

And when a village will not receive this, love does not retaliate. It simply moves on, leaving the door open. There is no punishment for refusal, because refusal harms no one but the mind that refuses. Love waits, and goes where it is welcomed, and forces nothing.

Son of man: the awakened Self, whose only purpose is to release the mind, never to destroy it Another village: the mind still open to welcome, where love goes freely rather than force itself on refusal

  1. Think of the person you have been quietly rehearsing a victory over, and let the rehearsal stop. You can put down the argument without deciding you were wrong.
  2. If someone shuts a conversation down or leaves you on read, let it be and go where you are wanted. No cold silence back, no last word, just the door left unlocked.
  3. When a tense call or an email thread hands you a clean opening to humiliate someone, skip it. Answer only what actually needs answering and send it.

Where am I still hoping to win, when what I really want is for it to be well?
