Mark 10:15 Meaning Most Certainly I Tell You

Most certainly I tell you, whoever will not receive God’s Kingdom like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.

What does Mark 10:15 mean?

Heaven cannot be reasoned into or seized by the clever mind, because the very effort to earn it affirms the separation that keeps it hidden. It is received the way a child receives, with open hands and no case to argue, no worthiness to prove.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Heaven cannot be reasoned into or seized by the clever mind, because the very effort to earn it affirms the separation that keeps it hidden. It is received the way a child receives, with open hands and no case to argue, no worthiness to prove. The ego wants to enter on its own terms, having weighed and judged and secured its place, and on those terms it can never enter at all.

To become as a child is to lay down the defenses that were built against love in the first place. What remains when the armor is gone is exactly what was always there, a mind willing to be given everything because it has stopped believing it must take. That willingness is the whole of entering.

Little child: the mind stripped of its defenses, the openness that receives what love freely gives rather than trying to earn it.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

A small child meets the morning without a story about it. No ledger of yesterday, no argument with what is, only the open attention that takes in a leaf or a face as if for the first time. The kingdom is not a place earned by the clever. It opens to whoever comes empty-handed, without the thick layer of thought that the grown mind lays over everything.

The accumulated self, proud of what it knows, cannot pass through, because it is too full to receive anything new. Innocence here means something other than ignorance. A child simply stops managing life from behind a wall of concepts, and the present moment is allowed to arrive whole.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

The reign of God is within, and only the childlike consciousness passes through its gate. The little child is the mind stripped of its accumulated arguing and defense, the open, trusting state that takes in the inner light without first weighing and doubting it. The kingdom is not a place reached by travel but the ruling awareness inside the body, and the grown, guarded intellect cannot cross into it because it comes armed with its own conclusions.

What happens in a person is a return to simple receptivity. When the inner life is met the way a child meets what is new, without suspicion or the hardened crust of opinion, the door of the inner kingdom opens; when it is met by the calculating mind, the door stays shut against it.

Little child: the open, trusting consciousness stripped of argument and defense, the receptive state that takes in the inner light without doubt Kingdom of God: the ruling awareness within the body, the reign of the higher self reached by turning inward and not by travel

PSYCHOANALYSIS

Psychoanalysis

A child meets life without the armor adults build. It has not yet learned to calculate, defend, and hide, so it takes in what is offered directly and whole. Something in us is buried under years of caution, and it is exactly that open part that can receive what the grown, guarded self keeps shutting out.

Becoming childlike again is not going backward or acting naive. It is setting down the practiced defenses long enough to let something in. The deepest good cannot be seized or earned by cleverness. It has to be received, and only the trusting, unguarded part of a person is able to receive it at all.

AWARENESS

Indian Guru

Wonder is the door. A child knows nothing and therefore looks; the grown mind arrives already full of conclusions and looks at nothing, only checking what it sees against what it has stored. God is available every moment to eyes that have not decided in advance what they will find.

Childlikeness is not childishness, and seekers confuse the two. Immaturity is a fact of age; the quality being pointed at is trust without demand, delight without motive, a readiness to be surprised. It cannot be practiced, only allowed, by dropping the certainty that you already know what life is.

Live Mark 10:15 today

  1. Pick one thing today you have been trying to deserve, rest, a break, someone's kindness, and just take it. No ledger, no justification.
  2. Let someone help you with something small, carrying a bag, picking up the check, giving you directions, and say only thank you. Skip the part where you explain you could have managed.
  3. When a hard moment comes and your instinct is to fix it with more effort, loosen your grip for sixty seconds first. See what the situation looks like when you are not pushing on it.

What am I still trying to earn that is already being offered to me?

In the pursuit of learning, something is added each day. In the pursuit of the way, something is dropped each day, until you arrive by doing nothing extra.
