Mark 10:44 Meaning Whoever of You Wants to Become First
Whoever of you wants to become first among you, shall be bondservant of all.

Mark 10:44 · World English Bible
Whoever of you wants to become first among you, shall be bondservant of all.
The drive to be first is the ego's whole ambition, the belief that one mind can rise only by leaving the rest below. Where that belief rules, every other person becomes a rung or a rival, and the self is left forever guarding a place it fought to reach and now dreads to lose.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
The drive to be first is the ego's whole ambition, the belief that one mind can rise only by leaving the rest below. Where that belief rules, every other person becomes a rung or a rival, and the self is left forever guarding a place it fought to reach and now dreads to lose.
The reversal offered here dissolves the whole contest. A mind that gives itself to all has nothing left to defend and no one left to climb above, for it has remembered that all minds are one. What looked like the lowest station is simply the recognition that there was never anyone to be higher than, and in that recognition the fear of losing rank quietly ends.
Servant of all: the mind that has laid down separation entirely and knows itself joined with everyone, holding no one apart

Water takes the lowest place and nourishes everything without competing. Because it contends with no one, nothing contends with it.
To study yourself is to forget yourself. What drops away is the one who needed to come out ahead.
The reed becomes a flute only when it is hollow. Emptied of its own claim, it carries a music that belongs to everyone.
