Mark 10:8 Meaning And the Two Will Become One Flesh

and the two will become one flesh, so that they are no longer two, but one flesh.

What does Mark 10:8 mean?

Two who seemed divided are revealed to have been one all along, for the division was never real, only believed. The ego teaches that minds are separate bodies with separate interests, and from that single error comes every sense of loss and every fear of another.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Two who seemed divided are revealed to have been one all along, for the division was never real, only believed. The ego teaches that minds are separate bodies with separate interests, and from that single error comes every sense of loss and every fear of another. Yet where love looks, the seam between two selves dissolves, and what appeared to be two is recognized as one that was never truly split.

This is the correction of the whole world's dream of separation, shown small in the meeting of two. When one mind is joined with another in love, the belief that they could be strangers falls away. They were always one, and remembering it is the beginning of remembering that all minds are.

Flesh: the appearance of separate selves in bodies, the seeming boundary the mind draws between what is actually one.

PSYCHOANALYSIS

Psychoanalysis

Two people joining into one is more than a fact about marriage. It is a picture of something the soul is always trying to do inside itself. Each of us carries an opposite we do not fully own, a hidden other of the opposite sex living in the depths of the mind.

Loving a real person often means meeting that inner other reflected back at us. The joining of two into one, out in the world, mirrors a slower joining that has to happen within, where the sides of us we kept apart finally come together. When that inner marriage takes place, a person stops being at war with half of who they are.

Live Mark 10:8 today

  1. Think of the person you share your life with most and consider that their good and yours are not actually in competition. Act on that once today, in something small.
  2. In the next disagreement at home or work, stop keeping score. Ask what a good outcome for both of you looks like and mean it.
  3. When you catch yourself building a case against someone, their side and your side, put the case down. You are on the same team and have been the whole time.

Where am I living as though their interests and mine could really be separate?
