Mark 16:18 Meaning They Will Take Up Serpents

they will take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will in no way hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.

What does Mark 16:18 mean?

Taking up serpents is the conscious handling of the base energy without being poisoned by it, lifting the coiled force up the spine on purpose rather than being struck by it below. The deadly thing drunk without harm is the concentrated poison of the lower nature, the toxin of appetite that no longer kills once the higher centers are open and transmuting it.

Laying hands on the sick and healing them is the flow of that risen current out through the arms into whatever in the body is weak. These are the marks of a nervous system in which the serpent power has been mastered and turned to life.

Serpents: the coiled base energy, handled on purpose and raised up the spine rather than striking blind and low Deadly thing: the concentrated poison of the lower appetites, drunk without harm once the higher centers transmute it Hands: the channels through which the risen current flows out into whatever in the body is weak and unwhole

Live Mark 16:18 today

  1. Take the strongest feeling in you today, anger, desire, restlessness, and aim it somewhere useful instead of trying to shut it off. That energy can clean a kitchen or finish a hard task.
  2. When someone brings you their heaviness, stay steady with it. You do not have to fix it, and you will not be poisoned by sitting near it.
  3. In a moment that usually knocks you over, the criticism, the traffic, the message you did not want, hold it without flinching and without striking back. Feel it fully and let it pass through you.

What strong thing in me have I been afraid of instead of learning to carry?

Taoism

The sage does not fight the strong current, the sage learns its direction and rides it. Force handled with skill carries you instead of drowning you.

Hinduism · Katha Upanishad

The body is a chariot, the senses are its horses, and the mind holds the reins. Held by a steady hand they carry you far, dropped they run you off the road.

Buddhism

What is poison to the untrained becomes medicine to the one who understands it. The strength of the thing does not change, your relationship to it does.
