Mark 2:11 Meaning I Tell You

“I tell you, arise, take up your mat, and go to your house.”

What does Mark 2:11 mean?

To arise is to withdraw agreement from the belief that one is helpless. The mind that had lain down within its guilt is now told to stand, and more, to lift the very thing that held it, carrying away what once carried it.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

To arise is to withdraw agreement from the belief that one is helpless. The mind that had lain down within its guilt is now told to stand, and more, to lift the very thing that held it, carrying away what once carried it. What was a prison of self-condemnation becomes a light and portable thing the moment its power is seen to have been borrowed from the mind alone.

And then, go home. The healed mind does not wander seeking further proof; it returns to where it belongs, to the settled peace that was always its true dwelling. Recovery is simply the mind coming back to itself, no longer stretched out in weakness but restored to the quiet ground it never really left.

Bed: the fixed image of helplessness the mind lay down within, now lifted and carried, its power revealed as borrowed House: the mind's own home, the settled peace that is its true dwelling, to which the healed mind returns

  1. Pick the story you tell about why you cannot change something, then get up and do one small piece of it anyway. The story was heavy only while you were lying in it.
  2. Stop describing yourself to friends as the person who is always tired, always behind, always the anxious one. Those labels get repeated back to you until they feel like facts.
  3. At the end of a long day, come home all the way. Put the phone in another room for ten minutes and let the settled part of you catch up with your body.
