Mark 3:26 Meaning If Satan Has Risen Up Against Himself

If Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he can’t stand, but has an end.

What does Mark 3:26 mean?

Fear cannot cast out fear, and this is its undoing. The ego lives by attack, yet if it turns that attack upon itself it consumes the very ground it stands on, for a thing whose whole nature is division cannot help but divide against itself in the end.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Fear cannot cast out fear, and this is its undoing. The ego lives by attack, yet if it turns that attack upon itself it consumes the very ground it stands on, for a thing whose whole nature is division cannot help but divide against itself in the end. What seems a mighty adversary is revealed as something with no foundation, sustained only by the mind that keeps believing in it.

This is why the ego has an end that love does not. Love is not divided and so cannot fall, but fear carries its own dissolution inside it. The moment a mind sees that its enemy is only its own guilt turned outward, the enemy loses the belief that gave it life, and what had no reality quietly stops.

Satan: the ego risen up as a seeming power, the belief in attack that undoes itself because division is all it is

  1. When resentment comes around again today, see what it is actually costing you, your sleep, your morning, your mood. You are the one holding the hot thing.
  2. Let go of one grudge enough to send a normal, friendly message to the person. Not a reckoning, just a small sign that you are done paying for it.
  3. When you feel the urge to get even with someone at work, wait an hour before acting. That impulse eats the person who follows it, and it usually dissolves on its own.

What am I still carrying that is only burning the hands that hold it?

What is violent is brittle, and what is hard breaks first. A thing that lives by force carries its own ending inside it.

Anger is a coal you pick up to throw, and you are the one it burns. The harm turns back on its source because that is its nature.

Your anger does you more damage than the thing you are angry at. The injury is in the carrying.
