Mark 3:6 Meaning The Pharisees Went Out

The Pharisees went out, and immediately conspired with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.

What does Mark 3:6 mean?

When love appears and asks nothing but a change of mind, the ego feels its whole foundation threatened, for it lives by the belief that safety comes from control and separation. So it does the strange thing fear always does: it joins with its own former enemies against the presence that would set it free.

Christian Psychology

When love appears and asks nothing but a change of mind, the ego feels its whole foundation threatened, for it lives by the belief that safety comes from control and separation. So it does the strange thing fear always does: it joins with its own former enemies against the presence that would set it free. Rivals become allies the instant that presence appears, because to the ego a mind at peace is more dangerous than any opponent.

The plot to destroy is guilt taking aim outward, mistaking the offer of release for an attack. What the mind wants gone is not a man but the reminder that it need not be afraid.

Pharisees: the part of the mind that guards the law and calls its rigidity righteousness Herodians: the part that serves worldly power and fears anything it cannot rule Counsel against him: the ego's alliance with itself, fear conspiring to silence the voice of love

  2. If someone in your life is calm in a way that irritates you, sit with that instead of needling them. The irritation is information about you.
  3. When a conflict at work tempts you to gather allies against a person, stop before you forward the screenshot. Taking it straight to them is slower and it is the only thing that ends it.

What peace in someone else have I treated as a threat?

People are not disturbed by things but by their opinions about them. A calm person is unsettling to those invested in being upset.

Whoever wants to control everything cannot be at peace. Fear of losing grip turns anything free into a threat.

Buddhism

Aversion and clinging are the same root wearing two faces. Threaten the self's defenses and it will ally with anything to keep them.
