Christ crosses on purpose into foreign ground, where the customs and the graves and the herds are all wrong by the standards of home. No region lies outside His reach, and the places careful people avoid are often exactly where He is heading.

A whole crossing through a storm, for one ruined man waiting on the far shore. Divine love does not count efficiency the way we do; it moves toward a single person as readily as toward a crowd. Nobody is out of the way, too unclean, or too far from where God is supposed to live.

Live Mark 5:1 today

  1. Reach out to the one person you have been quietly avoiding, the awkward cousin, the friend whose life got messy, the neighbor who talks too long. Send the message before you talk yourself out of it.
  2. Go out of your way for one person today, a real detour, something that makes no sense on paper. Drive across town, take the long call, show up.
  3. When you catch yourself writing someone off as too difficult or too far gone, stay in the conversation a little longer than is comfortable. The people we step around are usually the ones nobody steps toward.

Who have I decided is not worth the trip?

Good will is extended without borders, to the near and the far, the ones you like and the ones you do not. No one is left outside the wish.

Judaism · the Mishnah, Sanhedrin

Whoever saves one life is counted as saving a whole world. One person is never a small number.

Come, whoever you are, wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving. This house turns no one away.
