Matthew 14:16 · World English Bible
But Jesus said to them, “They don’t need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
The wish to send the crowd away is the ego's oldest counsel: that lack is real, that there is not enough, and that the loving thing is to dismiss the need you cannot meet. Love answers that no one need be turned out, because the scarcity was never in supply but in the belief that giving empties the giver.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
The wish to send the crowd away is the ego's oldest counsel: that lack is real, that there is not enough, and that the loving thing is to dismiss the need you cannot meet. Love answers that no one need be turned out, because the scarcity was never in supply but in the belief that giving empties the giver.
When a mind is told to feed what stands before it, it is being taught that it already holds what it thinks it does not have. What is given from love is not spent but multiplied, and the one who feeds is fed in the same act. The command is not a burden laid on the weak; it is the reminder that abundance is what the mind is, the moment it stops guarding itself against loss.
The multitude: the sum of needs the mind believes exceed its store. Bread to give: the love the mind fears it lacks, which increases only as it is offered.
Christian Psychology lens
Where in my life have I decided, without checking, that I do not have enough to give?
The sage gives and is not thereby poorer. What is held back stagnates, and what is let go keeps flowing back through you.
Generosity is listed first among the perfections because it is the quickest cure for the mind's conviction that it is running out. The gift trains the giver more than it supplies the receiver.
Do not say you will study or give when you have leisure, for the hour may never come. The one who waits to be full before giving stays empty.
