Matthew 19:12 Meaning For There Are Eunuchs Who Were Born

For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the Kingdom of Heaven’s sake. He who is able to receive it, let him receive it.

What does Matthew 19:12 mean?

Some are shaped so by birth, some by the hand of others, and some who choose, for the sake of the kingdom of heaven, to set aside a desire that once ruled them. What matters is not the outward form but the inner letting go of the compulsions the ego lives by.

To live for the kingdom is to live for presence, and this can ask that certain cravings be released. Not everyone is ready for this surrender, and it cannot be forced. Only when you are inwardly ripe can you receive it, and then releasing the craving brings relief rather than loss, because you are no longer driven by what you have finally seen through.

The generative fire that ordinarily spends itself outward can instead be withheld and turned back up the body to feed the higher birth. 3 conditions of that fire stand side by side: some hold it cold by nature, some are cut off by force, and some by their own choosing draw the seed of life upward, refusing its outward flow so its heat rises to open the kingdom within.

Only the third is the awakened act, the deliberate gathering of the creative power inward rather than a loss of it. What is not poured out below climbs, and that raised energy quickens the inner heaven in a person.

Eunuch: the generative or sexual energy withheld from outward use, held celibate so its fire can rise inward instead of being spent Kingdom of heaven: the higher state within the body, the risen centers of the head that the raised creative force wakes and feeds

PSYCHOANALYSIS

Psychoanalysis

Three men give up the same thing, but only one has done something that matters. The first was born without the drive; the second had it taken from him by others. Neither chose. What is forced on us from outside shapes our life but not who we are inside.

The third man feels the pull toward marriage and children, and sets it aside on purpose, because something in him is reaching for a deeper wholeness. A desire given up freely does not disappear. Its energy turns inward and feeds the slow work of becoming whole, so the force once meant for a family now builds the self instead.

Live Matthew 19:12 today

  1. Pick the one habit that pulls at you most, the late scroll, the second drink, the thing you reach for without deciding. Sit with the pull for two minutes without feeding it or fighting it, and watch what it actually feels like in your body.
  2. Tell one person you trust about something you want to loosen your grip on, not as a promise or a plan, just as an honest sentence said out loud.
  3. When the urge spikes hardest, in a dull meeting, in traffic, at the end of a long day, pause before your hand moves. One slow breath is enough to turn an automatic reach into a choice.

What would feel lighter if you stopped carrying it, even though you once called it yours?

Buddhism · Dhammapada

Craving is the thread that pulls a person through one restless life after another. When the thread is seen clearly and set down, the pulling stops on its own.

Bhagavad Gita 2

A person is not free because the senses are starved, but because the hunger behind them has quieted. Forced restraint leaves the craving alive underneath.

Tao Te Ching 46

The deepest poverty is wanting more. Knowing when you have enough is a kind of wealth nothing outside you can give or take.
