Matthew 2:15 Meaning And Was There Until the Death

and was there until the death of Herod; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, “Out of Egypt I called my son.”

What does Matthew 2:15 mean?

The higher self stays hidden in the body until the ruling ego that fears it dies away, and only then is it called up out of matter into full life. Egypt is the physical organism where the young divinity waits, and the calling out of it is the ascent of consciousness once the tyrant within has spent itself.

The higher self stays hidden in the body until the ruling ego that fears it dies away, and only then is it called up out of matter into full life. Egypt is the physical organism where the young divinity waits, and the calling out of it is the ascent of consciousness once the tyrant within has spent itself. Herod is the lower ruling mind, the self-preserving ego that senses a new king rising and would destroy it; that mind must exhaust its reign before the seed can emerge and be drawn upward from the dense flesh.

What looks like waiting out a king's death is the higher self held safe until the fearful ego fades and it can rise.

Egypt: the physical body where the newborn divinity is hidden until it is called upward Herod: the ruling ego, the self-preserving lower mind that fears the rising self and must die away first

PSYCHOANALYSIS

Psychoanalysis

The flight into Egypt and the later calling-out act out an ancient descent and return: the whole, true self goes down into the deep places before growth can bring it back into the light.

Egypt holds the oldest layer of the sense of God within us. Egyptian belief understood divine sonship as a deep unity of father and son, bound by the life-force passing between the generations of the gods. Herod is the reigning attitude, the old king whose power cannot survive the rise of a new center of wholeness. The return makes something visible: a person calling their own deepest image up out of the motherly depths, not as a repeat but as the fulfilling of what those shared depths already held.

Live Matthew 2:15 today

  1. When something in you is screaming to act today, set a timer for an hour and do nothing about it. Watch how much smaller it is when the timer goes.
  2. Let a disagreement sit overnight before you answer. Reply to that email tomorrow and see how different the words you choose are.
  3. Under real pressure, when you are certain you must speak right now or lose, stay quiet and keep breathing. The urgency is usually the oldest part of you, not the wisest.

What have you been forcing that would resolve on its own if you could wait?

Muddy water clears when left alone, and the one who can wait is the one who sees. Nothing is fixed by stirring it sooner.

Buddhism · impermanence

The fear and the pride that run you so hard today are both passing weather, not the sky. They exhaust themselves if you stop feeding them.

Stoicism · Seneca

He wrote that anger will burn itself out if you simply refuse to act while it is burning. Delay is not weakness, it is how the fire ends.
