Matthew 24:5 Meaning For Many Will Come in My Name

For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will lead many astray.

What does Matthew 24:5 mean?

Every impostor that comes speaking with authority is a thought that borrows the voice of truth to sell the belief in separation. The ego is a master of counterfeit; it wears the robes of what is holy and says, follow me, so that the mind will trust fear while believing it has trusted love.

Christian Psychology

Every impostor that comes speaking with authority is a thought that borrows the voice of truth to sell the belief in separation. The ego is a master of counterfeit; it wears the robes of what is holy and says, follow me, so that the mind will trust fear while believing it has trusted love. A mind is deceived not because the lie is clever but because it wants what the lie is selling, a self set apart and special.

The only guard is to ask what a teaching leaves you feeling. What comes in the name of Christ and yet breeds fear did not come from Christ at all. Truth does not deceive, because it has nothing to gain from you; it only reminds you what you are.

Many: the many thoughts the mind entertains, each pressing for belief and allegiance.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

The many who come claiming to be Christ are the false lights of the lower mind, the impostor thoughts and inflated states that borrow the name of the anointed self and pose as the real thing. Within a person the awakening throws up counterfeits, ego risings that call themselves enlightenment, feelings and beliefs that dress in spiritual authority they do not possess, and these deceive because they wear the true name while lacking the true nature. The genuine Christ is the anointed consciousness born deep within, not any of these surface pretenders.

As the inner search intensifies, the mind produces convincing forgeries of its own goal, each announcing itself as the arrival. The deception is that the false self keeps saying it is already Christ, and the seeker who believes the announcement stops short of the real birth.

Christ: the anointed higher consciousness born within, the authentic self the false lights only imitate

Live Matthew 24:5 today

  1. When something you read on your phone leaves your chest tight, pause before you share it and ask what it just did to you. If it made you more afraid and more certain you are on the right side alone, it is probably not the truth you thought it was.
  2. In a conversation today, listen less to how confident someone sounds and more to how you feel after. Confidence is cheap, and the person who makes you calmer and kinder is telling you something truer than the one who makes you anxious to agree.
  3. Under pressure, when an urgent voice inside says you have to prove yourself, get ahead, protect your name, treat that urgency itself as the warning sign. Real guidance does not need to rush you.

What did the loudest voice in my day today leave me feeling, and did I ever stop to check?

Tao Te Ching 81

True words are not showy and showy words are not true. The teaching that has to dazzle you into agreement is already selling something other than what it claims.

Buddhism · Kalama Sutta

The Buddha told the Kalamas not to accept a teaching because of its authority, its lineage, or how impressive the teacher sounds, but to test it by what it does in them: does it lessen greed, hatred and fear, or feed them?

Sufism · Rumi

The counterfeit coin exists only because real gold does, and the one who cannot tell them apart is usually the one who badly wants to be rich. Learn the weight of the true thing and the fake loses its grip.
